How to Check Iqama Status and Expiry in Saudi Arabia

The Iqama is the resident identity card for expatriates in Saudi Arabia. It must be valid for you to work, open bank accounts, travel and use most government services. You can check its status and expiry date online.

Check with Absher

Absher is the official e-services platform of the Ministry of Interior (absher.sa and the Absher app). Once you register with your Iqama number and a Saudi mobile number, your dashboard shows your Iqama number, expiry date and other details.

1. Download the official Absher app or open absher.sa.
2. Register or log in with your Iqama number and password.
3. Confirm the one-time code sent to your registered mobile.
4. Open your profile or "My Services" to see Iqama details and expiry.

Muqeem and your employer

Muqeem is the system employers use to manage expatriate employees: Iqama renewals, exit/re-entry visas and final exit. Most renewals are done by your employer's HR team through Muqeem, and the fees are generally the employer's responsibility for workers. If your Iqama is close to expiry, ask HR for the renewal status.

If your Iqama has expired

• Contact your employer immediately; late renewal can bring fines.
• An expired Iqama can block banking, travel and other services.
• If your employer refuses to renew, you can seek help from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (hrsd.gov.sa).

Tips

• Keep your mobile number updated in Absher; you need it for every login.
• Never share your Absher password or verification codes with anyone.
• Note your Iqama expiry date in your phone calendar with a reminder one month before.
• Saudi dates may appear in the Hijri calendar. Check the Gregorian date as well.
